2016 YAVA Awards & Celebration

October 12, 2016

Richmond Public Library—Richmond, VA

Each fall Richmond Public Library hosts an event to celebrate authors who live in Virginia who have published a book for young adults in the previous year. It is a great opportunity for authors and their readers to meet, and next year’s YAVA winners will be selected from this year’s authors.

The YAVA Awards recognize outstanding works of young adult literature written by authors living in Virginia. Established in 2015, the YAVA Awards are given out annually and include a $2000 prize to encourage future literary adventures and inspire readership in the growing genre of young adult literature. To be eligible, the author must reside in Virginia, the book must have been published in 2015, and the author must have attended the previous year’s YAVA celebration.
